Xcel Energy Public Safety Power Shutoff — March 14

March 13, 2026
PSPS Likely March 14
Xcel Energy is monitoring and preparing for severe weather, including strong winds, forecasted to start on Saturday, March 14, around midday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning opens in a new window for this weather event and has indicated this will be the warmest and driest day of this stretch of high fire danger. Wildfire risk is expected to increase, and strong winds heighten the risk of damage to power lines and may result in outages.
To reduce the risk of wildfire and support public safety, Xcel Energy is planning for a likely Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning on Saturday, March 14, around 2 p.m., potentially impacting about 18,000 customers in Boulder and Jefferson counties, where the most severe weather conditions are forecast.
Weather conditions are expected to start improving between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on March 14, though high winds that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected to continue through the weekend.
Customers can look up their address on the outage map to see whether they may be affected by this PSPS event.
