Re-"Energy"ze Your Business Breakfast Series presented by the City of BoulderCity of Boulder

 

This Breakfast Series delivers waste reduction, energy and cost savings tips tailored to Boulder businesses. With energy costs a significant factor for many businesses, this series is the "go-to" place to get valuable information and connections to help you manage your energy bills and improve your sustainability profile. Check back for specific program information and save the date for this fun, interactive breakfast.

 

7:30am-9:00am on the first Wednesday of March, June, September, and December. Free for members and non-members.


 Global Business Networking Forum

The cosmopolitan characteristic of this series is one of the most highly regarded aspects of this program, now in its seventh year at the Boulder Chamber. The Global Business Forum provides an opportunity for a wide spectrum of globally active companies and organizations to hear from visiting delegates, political officials and economic development experts as well as industry representatives. The series is arranged as a social with a brief presentation with a focus on creating an atmosphere for valuable networking and sharing of ideas and resources as they pertain to doing international trade. It is open to all businesses involved in – or interested in expanding – an international presence.

 

5:30 – 7:00 PM on the third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Free for members and non-members.

On November 10th Congressman Jared Polis and Foundry Group's Jason Mendelson informed us about current legislative efforts to remove barriers in accessing the highly qualified engineers and innovative entrepreneurs needed to drive growth and job creation inJason Mendelson the high tech sector. Brad Hendricks from Caplan and Earnest provided pointers on navigating the current environment to recruit and retain local and global talent for growing businesses. As always, there was plenty of time to network with others in global business over beer, wine and refreshments.

In case you missed it, Chris Ratay of Ratay Realty shared his Energy Efficiency Makeover experience at the newly named Re-“Energy”ze Your Business Breakfast Panel. Congratulations to Jean DiGiovanna of Workshop University for submitting the winning name in our series naming contest! We got a wealth of great energy and costs savings tips for small and home businesses, including resources for rebates and freebies. Did you know a simple screw-on faucet aerator can save significant water, dual flush toilets are inexpensive after rebates, and annual furnace cleanings improve efficiency? Thanks to the City of Boulder for sponsoring, and to our wonderful panelists, Beth Powell of Project People LLC, R.J. Mastic of Ecosyste.ms, Ken DeBouche of Franklin Energy, and Choen Vogt of the County's EnergySmart program.



Invest in Your Workforce - Early Education and the EconomyEarly Childhood Council of Boulder County

Workforce development begins in early childhood. Bill Gates, in testimony to the Senate Education Committee, stated that: "Early learning is the best investment that we as a society can make to improve educational performance and ensure that children hav the opportunity to become successful adults." On October 4th, the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County, the Boulder Chamber, and many other community cosponsors cosponsored this informative breakfast with nationally recognized expert, Dr. Rick Brandon. Dr. Brandon presented data on the role of this important sector in the local economy. Ms. Mary Atchison provided a retention toolkit for employers looking to create a family friendly workplace.

 

"Winning the Future: White House Roundtable with American Business”

On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, the Boulder Chamber along with the Small BusineUnder Secretary Sanchez and Congressman Polisss Development Center, Boulder Economic Council and City of Boulder hosted a “Winning the Future Roundtable with American Business” with U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary for International Trade, Francisco Sanchez, and Congressman Jared Polis. A small group of local business people provided feedback on how the Administration can best support their growth, and learned about Administration resources and programs designed to help them create jobs and compete.  White House Business Council members will host these roundtables in at least 100 communities across the country by year-end.
